The frets are now machine-cut, and varnished with a new style of higher gloss varnish, with embouchures for maker's label and for a serial number (both present) End Shape: Hexagonal End Sides: Six End Diameter: 157.5mm End-Profile: Flat End Material: Single-ply rosewood ends, in the post-1848 machine-cut fretwork introduced by Louis Lachenal during his time as Manager at Wheatstone's Conduit St premises, and varnished with a new style of higher gloss varnish. End Bolts: Medium cheese-head brass bolts, securing the fretwork end to the action frame and bellows. Fret Pattern: Post-1848 machine-cut fretwork introduced by Louis Lachenal Label Embouchure Pattern: Oval to RH, scalloped shape to LH Strap Screw-insert type: Inset circular brass disc with one steel securing screw, one at each side. Finger-rest: Standard format curved-end brass finger-rests, with some wear to leather cladding. Three securing screws. Fret Condition: Fine, high gloss - superceding the French polish used on early models. Damage Summary: Fine original condition |
