End Frets

Summary: The post-1848 machine-cut rosewood fretwork is now the standard format. The frets are machine-cut, bevelled edges with oval embouchure for maker's label and slightly scalloped for a serial number (both present)

End Shape: Hexagonal

End Sides: Six

End Diameter: 157mm

End-Profile: Bevelled edges.

End Material: Single-ply pale and grained bevelled edge rosewood ends, with side panels of ends and action frame of rosewood veneer.

End Bolts: Medium cheese-head domed brass bolts, securing the fretwork end to the action frame and bellows.

Fret Pattern: Post-1848 machine-cut fretwork introduced by Louis Lachenal when he worked at Wheatstone's.

Label Embouchure Pattern: Oval embouchure for maker's label and slightly scalloped one for a serial number (both present)

Strap Screw-insert type: Inset circular brass disc with one steel securing screw

Finger-rest: Standard format curved-end brass finger-rests,clad in remnants of original leather cladding. 3 securing screws.

Fret Condition: Fine.

Damage Summary: Case top-strap missing.
