Reeds and Reed Pans

Reed Pans Summary: Conventional radial pans with the central hole offset towards the smaller chambers in a now standard layout. Pan inset flush to bellows-frame, and with narrow dividers clad in yellow chamois. The pans are flush to the bellows-frame and reed-pans. Annular L Lachenal pan-label, address cut out.

Reed Pans Main Labels: The large annular pan-label has had Louis Lachenal's "Lit James St" address, removed when the instrument was sold via Keith, Prowse & Co, but retains full size and note details of each reed.

Reed Pans Stamps: L & R twice

Reed Pans Serial Numbers: 6752 Once

Reed Pans Gasketry: Pan dividers clad in pale yellow chamois.

Reed Pans Right Hand Cross Pieces: RH: 4 Wooden cross-pieces, (superceding the previous use of cork cross-pieces), each white chamois-capped, on top chambers

Reed Pans Left Hand Cross Pieces: LH: 4 wooden cross-pieces, (superceding the previous use of cork cross-pieces), each white chamois-capped, on top chambers

Reeds Summary: 96 wedge profiled round-ended brass reed frames, 24 on each side of each reed pan. Round-end frames, with brass tongues each secured by a pair of brass cheese-head screws. Note names stamped on each reed-frame.

Reed Frame Material: Brass

Reed Tongue Material: Brass tongues.

Reed Frame Shape: Tapered round-ended brass reed frames

Reed Tongue Profile: parallel

Reed Securing Screws: The Brass tongues each secured by a pair of brass cheese-head screws.
