End Frets

Summary: The post-1848 machine-cut fretwork is now the standard format. The frets are machine-cut, flat to edges with slightly scalloped embouchures for the dealer's label and for a serial number (both present)

End Shape: Hexagonal

End Sides: Six

End Diameter: 158mm

End-Profile: Flat.

End Material: Single-ply grained flat Mahogany ends, with solid mahoganyside panels around the fret edging and action board levels.

End Bolts: Large domed steel wood-screws, securing the fretwork end to the action frame and bellows.

Fret Pattern: Post-1848 machine-cut fretwork introduced by Louis Lachenal when he worked at Wheatstone's.

Label Embouchure Pattern: Larger scalloped oval to RH, smaller scalloped shape to LH

Strap Screw-insert type: No Strap-screw inserts fitted on this budget model.

Finger-rest: Standard format curved-end brass finger-rests, each with remnants of the original leather cladding, and later patching. 3 securing screws.

Fret Condition: Poor.

Damage Summary: Top strap missing, RH Thumbstrap loose, some fret damage.
