End FretsSummary: The post-1848 machine-cut rosewood fretwork is now the standard format. The frets are machine-cut, very slightly bevelled at the edges, with oval embouchures for the label (absent) and for slightly scalloped for a serial number (number present). Good condition. End Shape: Hexagonal End Sides: Six End Diameter: 157mm End-Profile: Flat, chamfered edges. End Material: Single-ply grained flat Rosewood ends, with Rosewood veneered side panels around the fret edging and action board levels, two panels of veneer misiing from RH frames. End Bolts: Shallow domed brass end-bolts, securing the fretwork end to the action frame and bellows. Fret Pattern: Post-1848 machine-cut fretwork introduced by Louis Lachenal when he worked at Wheatstone's. Label Embouchure Pattern: Larger oval to RH, smaller scalloped shape to LH Strap Screw-insert type: Inset circular brass disc with one steel securing screw. Finger-rest: Standard format curved-end brass finger-rests, each all original leather cladding missing. 3 securing screws. Fret Condition: Good Damage Summary: Top case-strap replaced, RH thumb-strap missing. |
