Reeds and Reed PansReed Pans Summary: The conventional radial pans have had their central hole replaced with square inset reed-pans. That on the RH has a square array of four added pairs of treble reeds, in a removable "pan-let", while that on the LH has a square array of three added pairs of treble reeds, each Pan inset to the centre of each pan. The outer main pans are flush to bellows-frame, and with narrow dividers now clad in pale yellow chamois. The pans are flush to the bellows-frame and reed-pans. NO annular L Lachenal pan-label, since the added "pan-lets" occupy the central areas. Reed Pans Main Labels: None Reed Pans Stamps: L & R twice Reed Pans Serial Numbers: 11165 Once Reed Pans Gasketry: Pan dividers clad in pale yellow chamois. Reed Pans Right Hand Cross Pieces: RH: 2 Cork cross-pieces, each chamois-capped, on top chambers Reed Pans Left Hand Cross Pieces: RH: 2 cork cross-pieces, each chamois-capped, on top chambers Reeds Summary: 110 wedge profiled round-ended brass reed frames, 55 on each side of each reed pan. Round-end frames, with brass tongues on the original 96 reeds from the original 48-key format, and steel tongues on the 14 extra reeds within the two extra "pan-lets". Each tongue secured by a pair of steel cheese-head screws. Note names stamped on each reed-frame. Reed Frame Material: 96 Brass, Reed Tongue Material: Brass & steel tongues - the 14 extra reeds are steel. Reed Frame Shape: Tapered round-ended brass reed frames Reed Tongue Profile: parallel Reed Securing Screws: The tongues each secured by a pair of steel cheese-head screws. Stamps on Reed Frames: Note names stamped on reed-frames, plus the narrow end of each reed having the tiny stamp of the "Reed-frame size numberL & R" (corresponding with the adjacent number on the radial pan label). |
